Today's Living Hope

The US Constitution, Romans 13, and a Christian's relationship to the Government + The Power of Abiding

Episode Summary

In the first half of our show Guest: Jim Walton From The 3rd Choice will join Linda Penn. Americans are now torn between the idea that Christians should just passively do whatever the government says or the idea that we should more aggressively stand for what we think should be done. What does the Bible tell us is the wiser course? The Bible certainly tells us that the idea of government came from God, but this does not mean that God had approved every specific government and every ruler. Throughout the Bible, God Himself often raised up leaders to fight against and throw off tyrannical governments: Moses, Gideon, Ehud, Jephthah, Samson, and Deborah, among others. We'll look at both the U.S. Constitution, Romans 13, and other passages, to bring an understanding of how God expects us to act on Biblical principles. In the final half of our show Guest: Dominic Secchiaroli will talk about The Power of Abiding. 1. Is your relationship with the father so connected that you can love and serve others during these difficult times? 2. Apart from me, you can do nothing (John 15:5). When you hear this Scripture what does it encourage you to do? 3. The Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6). Is this prayer to be repeated or is it an example of how to pray?
